A visit to SDUC is never easy, but this game turned into quite a battle, with the squad suffering from drop-outs on the morning of the game, and the large, sticky pitch at the College Fields.
The match kicked-off with a fanfare as music was provided my Mr. Studt and his funfair less than a hundred yards away!
Cardigan started the brighter and put the SDUC goal under pressure from the start, and soon were 1-0 up after a cross into the box from the right-hand side of the pitch was flicked on by Reece Prowse for the returning slimline Jon Furney to nod in at the far post.
Some slack defending was to cost Cardigan though as SDUC were quick to break up the slope and equalised after catching the Town defence napping.
Just before half-time, Town thought they would take the lead into the break, as they scored through Reece Prowse, but SDUC capitalised on some unsure defending to equalise again just on the whistle.
The second half started well for Town, now playing up the hill, but SDUC did have chances to take the lead on the break. However, with 15 minutes remaining, Reece Prowse sprinted through to a long ball down the middle that split the defence, and slotted calmly past the advancing college goalkeeper.
SDUC did have a similar chance to equalise again near the end, but the shot was sent wide, and Cardigan Town hung on to a well-deserved win
